Carol was raised in South Africa, studied for a B.A. in Fine Arts at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and was an interior design student at the University of Cape Town. She is a frequent university guest lecturer in Interior Design and a regular guest speaker for many not-for-profit and professional organizations.

Carol continues to look everywhere and at everything for her design inspiration. Her world travels span the globe from Australia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, China, and South East Asia. She brings back new ideas and influences from many varied cultures to incorporate into her clients’ homes. Most recently, she and her husband traveled throughout Northern India. They spent three extraordinary weeks fully immersed in the very exciting and colorful culture of that region and Carol fulfilled a lifetime wish to visit the Taj Mahal. Carol’s unique design style combines contemporary, transitional or modern furnishings, art and sculpture, texture and color to fit her clients’ needs.

An artist in her early career, Carol’s eye for color and her creative use of space are part of her multi-faceted approach to interior design. As Carol states, “A great design idea often comes from one moment of inspiration, built on a lifetime of experience.” A quintessential party hostess, Carol knows how to make a space look extraordinary while understanding what families need to enjoy a functional home. In September 2013, Connecticut Cottages & Gardens published one of Carol’s Toronto projects, a 14,500 SF custom family home brimming with “smart” technology. The interior is contemporary, with bold, dramatic, and innovative finishes and art. It reflects an uncommon attention to subtle detail.

In October 2012 Bernardaud and Bilotta Kitchens, in association with Traditional Home, worked together to present the second annual “Art of the Table” event at the Architects & Designers Building in New York City. They invited Carol as one of four designers to participate and create distinctive table designs within the Bilotta showroom vignettes, incorporating design collections from the French houses Baccarat, Bernardaud, Christofle and Frette.
